Planning Board backs Westfield Avenue redevelopment designation

Planning Board · Meeting of July 9, 2026

NJ CLARK — Clark Planning Board unanimously backs Westfield Avenue redevelopment study. The board recommended designating four adjacent properties at 191, 195, 199, and 205 Westfield Avenue as an area in need of non-condemnation redevelopment, citing advanced disrepair, vacancy, and functional obsolescence in support of affordable housing development aligned with the township's smart growth objectives. Township Planner Paul Ricci presented a June 15, 2026 study finding all four lots met statutory redevelopment criteria; the recommendation now goes to Township Council for final designation and potential future tax abatement incentives.

The 0.7-acre site under common ownership is located near commercial anchors including Dairy Queen and Dunkin Donuts.
