Planning Board backs Raritan Road redevelopment designation

NJ CLARK — Clark Planning Board backs redevelopment path for contaminated Raritan Road parcel. The Board voted 8-0 to recommend that 737 Raritan Road, a 0.81-acre former gas station vacant since 2002 and contaminated with benzene at 300 times allowable limits, be designated as an Area of Non-Condemnation Redevelopment. The designation, endorsed by Township Planner Paul Ricci, is intended to encourage future development through tax incentives and streamlined approvals while maintaining the property owner's discretion not to build immediately.
The Board also approved four affordable housing ordinances establishing overlay zones at four sites with density caps of 16 units per acre, including a township-wide 20 percent affordable housing set-aside requirement.
